The ditch as it is known in the tattoo industry is the inside surface of the elbow joint. It is one of the more notoriously unpleasant locations to heal, due to the constant movement, stretching, and folding of the skin in the area constantly disrupting the formation of new tissues and complicating the mending of extant tissues. Due to these factors, solid tattoo coloring is difficult to maintain in this area.
