In the mid 1990s, when BME was experiencing massive growth (and thus escalating operating costs, without any income), Gypsy Rogers (born April 3, 1972) offered free hosting at his FreeQ.com domains (which is where the hostname bme.FreeQ.com came from). It could be argued that, without his support, BME would not have survived. Gypsy still occasionally does sysadmin work for BME.
