A tattoo in Hawaiian culture on the tongue, a guardian symbol.

The talisman-tattoo or guardian symbol was tattooed on Hawaiian natives' tongues to commemorate the death of a great chief and to be sure he would be pleased with them when they entered the kingdom of the dead. Michael Anthony Alberta created Dynamic Body Art Therapy based on this principle.
