Robert Ripley, born in 1890 on Christmas in Santa Rosa, California as LeRoy Ripley. He was an cartoonist and radio host and creator of the world famous Ripley's Believe It or Not!

He spent his career traveling the world and "collecting" odd facts, curios and experiences. Having visited over 198 countries, Ripley later opened "Odditorium" Museums filled with the spoils of a life of adventure.

He died of a heart attack on May 27, 1949.
