A pulley is a mechanical device that allows for redirection of a rope while maintainig low frictional forces. A single sheeve pulley allows for a single pass and redirection of a rope, however, multiple sheeve pulleys are available which allow for multiple passes and redirections of a rope in one location. Multiple sheeve pulleys are often used in Block and Tackle setups to increase the mechanical advantage of the system.
