A chin piercing is an unusual surface piercing through the flesh of the chin. It does not pass inside the mouth at all (like a labret does), but instead exits below the chin. Occasionally the piercing is done horizontally, but vertically is the most common—and easiest to heal—placement.

Many times when those outside of the piercing community say "chin piercing" they actually mean low labret (aka Lowbret Piercing).
