If a hard blow is given to an erect penis without bracing, or without proper care and attention, the Tunica Albuginea (the membrane surrounding the spongy tissue that enables erections) can break. There will often be a loud "crack" followed by severe pain, severe bruising and possible swelling. This requires immediate medical attention and usually requires surgery to repair.
