Bromelain, an enzyme found in pineapple juice, is a natural anti-inflammatory with analgesic characteristics that can reduce pain, swelling and tenderness. However, the levels found in a glass of pineapple juice are not sufficient to act effectively on all but the mildest pain. If you are experiencing acute pain, a far more efficient and sure way to relieve it is to take analgesic tablets (either ibuprofen, paracetamol or something prescribed by a doctor).
