American Mary is a Canadian film, released in 2012, written and directed by Jen & Sylvia Soska. Russ Foxx is credited as "consultant: flesh artist" as well as having a small role in the movie as "Penis Guy". Fakir Musafar's name also appears in the credits under "Thanks" along with The Church of Body Modification.

Plot

The story follows medical student, Mary Mason, as she becomes increasingly broke and disenchanted with the surgical world she once admired. The allure of easy money sends Mary into the world of underground surgeries which ends up leaving more marks on her than her so called 'freakish' clientele.

Body Modification

Body modification is featured heavily throughout the movie. Modifications such as Tongue splitting, Suspension and genital modification takes place during the film.

The writer/director sisters also star in the film as the editors of "the world's largest body modification website" and are seen asking Mary to perform a modification which was directly inspired by the April Fool's prank written by Shannon Larratt called Adding and Subtracting.
