According to the dictionary, an Allergy is:

An abnormally high sensitivity to certain substances, such as pollens, foods, or microorganisms. Common indications of allergy may include sneezing, itching, and skin rashes.

...and people can have allergies to virtually anything - the risk in the body modification community is that someone may be allergic to ink, or the metal used in jewelry.

This is by no means an extensive list, and if in doubt, be very careful when using something you haven't tried before (a new type of ink, a new type of jewelry), and remove it if you notice any irritation.

The main article for this category is Allergic Reaction.
