Hemophilia is the oldest known hereditary bleeding disorder. It is caused low levels or complete absence of a blood protein essential for normal clotting.

While, in general, one with this disorder will not bleed more profusely or quickly, it usually takes a much longer period of time for a wound (even as small as a pin prick) to clot and cease to bleed. In very rare severe cases, medical attention must be sout.

As always, is it of the utmost importance to inform your piercer or tattoo artist of any and all medical conditions of which you are affected.
