Health codes are municipal regulations of establishments whose products or services could adversely affect the health of the population. While the vast amount of regulation and inspection deals with restaurants and tanning salons, piercing and tattoo studios are also covered under many local restrictions, requiring minimum standards for cleanliness, procedure, and sterilization.
