Barbells are available curved; usually about a quarter of a full circle in form. This form of body jewelry is most commonly used for navel piercings and eyebrow piercings, as well as vertical hood piercings, PA piercings, and others. Curved barbells are not appropriate for surface piercings as this will lead to rejection.

Curved barbells are almost always made of stainless steel or titanium, and have either internal threading or external threading with internal threading usually being a mark of greater quality.

Curved barbells usually cost between $5 and $40 in standard gauge sizes (larger gauges can cost dramatically more) depending on the manufacturer.
