Nylon is a relatively inert plastic often used for body jewelry and sometimes for implants. It can be used to make cheap and quick retainers for surgery or discretion—fishing line and weed-whacker cord are easy places to get nylon for this purpose.

It should be noted that nylon will absorb a small amount of fluid and should not be used for permanent implantation.
