'''Sounding''' is the act of inserting something, usually a [[Sound|sound]], into the [[Urethra|urethra]]. It is done for immediate stimulation, and also as a means of stretching the urethra. If done frequently, the urethra will, over time, stretch so that its natural size is quite large.
A "SusCon" is differentiated from other suspension events in that it is oriented around a convention, with some people travelling a distance to suspend and meet with other artists, rather than simply an event centered around a performance; they can be as much social as educational events.
