A Dental Dam is a rectangular piece of latex or silicone used in dentistry to isolate the tooth or teeth to be treated in order to protect that area from bacteria in the oral cavity.

They can also be used as a barrier during oral sex to minimise the transmission of disease/infection between the mouth and vulva/vagina/anus.

They are readily available in a variety of colors and even come flavored.

Makeshift dental dams can be made by slitting a non-lubricated condom lengthways.
