Plaque is a sticky, acidic, bacteria-laden substance that builds up on solid objects in the mouth, including both teeth and oral piercings. Regular oral hygiene can help combat buildup. Hydrogen peroxide, either swished at regular concentration or in a baking soda toothpaste, has also been shown to help dissolve plaque and prevent tooth decay.
