Kanphati is a Sanskrit/Hindu word meaning "split eared" (Kan = ear, Phat = split), a practise of inner conch piercing done by the Gorakhnathis. The specific aesthetic order practising this form of kundalini-hatha yoga founded by Gorakshanatha, still exists today under this name.
