Erik Sprague (born June 12, 1972), better known as The Lizardman, left his doctoral program in philosophy in order to better dedicate himself to his work as an artist. He is probably best known for his transformation project which includes a full body tattoo of green scales, stretched piercings, forehead implants, filed teeth, and a split tongue, making him resemble a lizard. He is one of the first people to have a split tongue, and due to his media prominence, it could be argued that he is almost single-handedly responsible for the popularity of this body modification.

As The Lizardman, he travels the world speaking and performing an extensive repertoire of sideshow style acts in a variety of one-man shows. He has also worked with groups such as TSD and CoRE.

He wrote a book called Once More Through the Modified Looking Glass which is a compilation of all his columns for BMENews from 2003-2007.

There is a wax replica of him at the New York Ripley's Believe It or Not museum.

He also has a band called Lizard Skynyrd.
